Choosing a school for your child is not what it used to be. The word “choice” implies just how much has changed over the years. The U.S. Department of Education offers some guidelines for selecting the right school your child and family. The National Association of Independent Schools offers information on its Web site about the benefits of an independent school education, and the National Association of Episcopal Schools offers information about an Episcopal education. We invite you to visit these sites and others that you discover throughout your journey.
A group of independent schools in the Charlotte area have formed a consortium. Download our brochure.

Middle School Athletics
The athletic program at Trinity Episcopal School challenges students to pursue athletic excellence while honoring each one as an individual with unique potential. Students who participate in athletics at Trinity are given support and guidance as they develop and refine their athletic skill, improve their physical fitness, and build confidence in their individual abilities while identifying themselves as part of a team. As faculty, families, and coaches collaboratively influence the lives of Trinity Episcopal School student-athletes, they encourage and model good sportsmanship, civility, and grace while fostering an atmosphere of support, wholesome competition, and delight in the sport. Participation in athletics at Trinity Episcopal School is a privilege. Students who wish to participate must adhere to the Honor Code, exhibit appropriate behavior in class and at practice, and must work to achieve a balance that allows for success in the classroom as well as in the game.
The Middle School athletic program at Trinity Episcopal School strives to support the School’s mission of developing the whole person. Thoughtfully designed and directed athletic experiences will contribute to the development of self-discipline, character, respect, and confidence and thus equip students with tools needed for success in adult life.
The following sports are offered to all Trinity middle-schoolers:
Fall: Girls' Volleyball, Co-Ed Cross-Country, Soccer, Girls' Tennis

Creating Scholars, Nurturing Spirituality and Embracing Diversity in Charlotte’s Center City
Trinity Episcopal School
Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities
Trinity Episcopal School (TES) is committed to the breadth of the Episcopal tradition in both its unity and diversity. A student of Trinity Episcopal School is challenged to academic excellence while honored as an individual with unique potential. As faculty and families together influence young lives, students themselves will be affirmed as ambassadors of grace, citizens who live and teach an ethic of service and respect for others. A student of Trinity Episcopal is trained in the example of Christ and toward a stewardship of healthy body, lively soul and discerning mind. To this end, Trinity is committed to attracting and admitting a student body that reflects the greater Charlotte community, both culturally and socio-economically.
The School’s Board of Trustees has established two funds to support families who wish to attend Trinity and who need financial assistance. At the same time, we recognize that responsibility for a child’s education rests solely with the family and requires substantial commitment and prioritization of resources on their part. An independent school education is an investment in a child’s future and, therefore, requires sacrifices.
Financial Aid
A family’s financial situation should not stand in the way of academically qualified students attending our School. To this end, Trinity has a financial aid program made possible, in part, by our Annual Fund. All students (grades K-8) are eligible to apply for the need-based financial aid program.
Trinity subscribes to the services of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) to determine a family’s ability to contribute to educational expenses. SSS provides, at the request of parents, a financial analysis based on the confidential Parents’ Financial Statement.
Trinity Opportunity Grant
In response to the growing financial pressure on middle income families attending independent schools, Trinity’s Board of Trustees established the Trinity Opportunity Grant in the fall of 2005. The first wave of students eligible to apply for this grant will be rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders applying for the 2006-2007 school year. The Trinity Opportunity Grant is renewable for students who remain in good standing.
Eligibility:
- Students whose family annual gross income is between $75,000 and $160,000 as verified by a copy of their most recent completed tax return and a W-2 from the current year.
- Students will be selected on the basis of academic promise, good citizenship, leadership potential and a demonstrated benefit to the school community.
- Candidates from diverse backgrounds will be sought but not accorded preferential status.
- Equal gender opportunities will be given.
- Candidates are required to go through the standard admissions process and participate in an interview with the administrative team.
- Candidates must submit an essay of no less than 250 words describing a time they were involved in an activity to help people at their school, church or in their community and what they learned from their experience.
- Candidates’ parents will complete a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) in order to demonstrate financial need.
- Selections will be made by the Admissions Office and Head of School.
Please complete your enrollment application and speak with someone in our Admissions Office prior to applying for financial aid.
