Student Life: TES Uniforms and Dress Code
Trinity Episcopal Uniform and Dress Code [also see page 71 in Appendix]
In fitting with our mission, our founding Board identified a uniform dress code as one useful tool in promoting an inclusive school culture. Our policy aims to minimize differences associated with spending habits and maximize bonding through similar dress. In addition, uniforms help create an atmosphere that promotes focused learning and respectful, positive expressions of individuality. We believe a uniform allows students to express their identity in meaningful ways, not culturally contrived ways.
Students are expected to wear clothing that complies with the attached uniform policy. Teachers and administrators will encourage students to comply with the dress code with reminders and consequences that develop good habits of self-discipline, respect for school norms and respect for self. Students who come to school wearing inappropriate clothing will be given an item from the clothes closet to wear for the day with the expectation that the problem will be resolved with support from folks at home prior to the next day.
Standards for personal grooming are driven by our goal that students not distract themselves, their peers or teachers from the process of learning. For example, make-up is not acceptable; soon enough innocence is lost. Shirts are respectfully tucked into waistbands. Caps or hats are appropriate headgear until they are worn indoors or carry inappropriate pictures or language.
Monday is spirit day on which students may wear a shirt other than uniform if that shirt is a Trinity Spirit Shirt originating from the school. It draws attention to a Trinity team, our Honor Code, a club or our mascot. Students should listen for announcements about special dress days. For instance, we raise inventory for our used uniform closet by holding NUTS (No Uniform at Trinity School) Day every so often.
In order to maximize family choice in shopping we have NOT chosen an exclusive uniform provider. HOWEVER, families are expected to match purchases with the uniform styles & colors described on the reverse side of this page. Land’s End and Educational Outfitters give back a portion of their profits on Trinity sales. When ordering from Land’s End, be sure to use logo #0230314k for lower school lettering and logo #023810K for middle school shield and our preferred school code: 9000-7031-9. Shirts purchased at local retailers can be embroidered with our logo at L & M Monogramming, 310 East Blvd. 704. 376. 2400. Teresa Fesmire of Ad Concepts (local company) is also an approved vendor for both clothing and monogramming: 704. 588. 7666.
