Parents' Association: Child Protection Policy

Trinity Episcopal School Child Protection Policy

Introduction

Because Trinity relies (actually thrives) on a great number of volunteers helping to fulfill our mission, the School has developed a policy to help administer our volunteer program. The policy has been designed to:

Policy - Volunteer Screening

All volunteers will be required to register via the attached [see page 78 in the appendix] Volunteer Application and to attend a Volunteer Orientation and Training Session. If the volunteer will be providing transportation for Trinity students or be providing supervision on an overnight field trip, the volunteer will be required to provide additional information and to meet additional requirements. Please refer to the examples below.

A parent Volunteer Coordinator has been designated as and is responsible for administering the overall program. To protect the privacy of potential volunteers, a Trinity staff member conducts the screening for the volunteers providing transportation and those acting as chaperones for overnight field trips (driving records, criminal and sex offender record checks) and the Head of School reviews individual screening results to determine the approval of these volunteers.

Upon the completion of the required registration, training and screening, a volunteer will be eligible to volunteer at the School for three years at the discretion of the Head of School. The application does require the volunteer to notify the School of any adverse change that would affect his/her volunteer status.

All volunteers (and visitors) will be required to sign in at the School’s front desk and prominently wear a volunteer/visitor badge while on the School premises or at an off-campus activity.
