Academic Life : Field Trips
Field Trips
A hallmark of the Trinity Episcopal School (TES) education is the opportunity to use the Uptown Charlotte community and beyond as our learning landscape. TES students will participate in “field” experiences, with regular trips to such places as ImaginOn’s library and theatres, Little Rock AME Zion Church, Discovery Place, Afro-American Cultural Center and Service Learning partnerships with several Uptown facilities such as Urban Ministries, Metro School, Edwin Towers and American Red Cross. Access to our Uptown resources will be accomplished primarily on foot, using public transportation and private automobiles.
TES students will also branch out beyond the boundaries of the city with trips and excursions to such places as the Schiele Museum, Raptor Center, Biltmore House, Old Salem and Latta Plantation. Older students will have the opportunity to experience out-of-town overnight trips to places including Earthshine, Green River Preserve, Wilmington, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Students will be transported either in private automobiles or chartered buses.
Parents will be kept informed of our adventures through classroom newsletters, monthly calendars, the TES Web site, and Good News [see the appendix on pages 75-76 for the Field Trip Permission/Agreement Form and Listing of Field Trips by grade].
